PEOPLE DRIVE ME CRAZY!
And it's not even the stupid customers or dead sea spa people this time! It's our own. I don't understand why it is LOGICAL to, when you have the MORNING SHIFT, to call your boss that morning and tell her that you can't come in... and that the boss has to find someone to cover your shift.. WHAT??
Let's get this present tense... Morgan got a phone call this morning a little after 9 am. (mind you the mall opens at 10). I knew immediately when she said, "what's up Erika," that Erika was calling in sick. Ugh. I wanted to scream, and I wasn't even the person having to deal with it. Morgan gives her some options of who to call... I'm sure dreading the result. She gets a phone call a few minutes later and peels through the room and comes back in, getting dressed.. She's going in. Icing on the cake? She is supposed to take care of her sister this morning, so she's taking Lexie with her.
Apparently Erika had been texting her since 8 (which is when she is supposed to come in) to tell her that she is sick, that she can't come in... if she has to come in she will, but that MORGAN has to find someone to cover the shift... (WTQ?) Negative, friend... this does NOT fly. She has done this to Morgan before.. I find it incredibly irritating. She better be on her freaking DEATH BED because this is dumb. What I find interesting is that I saw Erika yesterday and she seemed fine... and it's odd that she didn't have an INKLING last night that she wasn't feeling well.. This is a good way to lose your job. Would this fly anywhere else? I can't imagine that it would.
For some reason, in the back of my mind, I always have my job at the Family Health Center to compare my current job to. I guess it's the base of my working life, and it's not a bad comparison. It's sometimes along the lines of, "Patty would never stand for this nonsense." Or, "I would never try this when I worked at FHC." The difference there is that everyone had their own work to do, and if I missed work then it had to be passed on top of other peoples work, and there was always more to do when I got back. Better just to go in sick. Whereas, here- we all pretty much have the same duties, it just differs between managers and associates. (she who holds a key and those who dream of such an honor. ) Shouldn't this be easier then? Just to call someone and get them to cover for you? Apparently not. I will never understand. But I would never pull this kind of crap on Patty.
