a LOVELY PRUNEY EVENING!

I had a long long day at work today, but it went really quick.. I had a lot lot lot to do, and I was ueber productive. My bosses boss is coming this week, which scares the crap out of me.. BUT!!! Once it hit 5, thats when I was supposed to get off, I went kinda crazy. I think it's a mix of only having 4 days left... being done with work for the day... and to drive. I like to drive... the time to myself and cranking the tunes, and being completely ridiculous cause I'm pumped to be done.
AND THEN! For the first time in years, I went into the pool. (the Shepherds have a pool) I floated around for probably a good half hour or longer, singing silly songs to myself and looking at the Mountains.

it was really lovely... now i'm all pruney. *sigh*

PEOPLE DRIVE ME CRAZY!
And it's not even the stupid customers or dead sea spa people this time! It's our own. I don't understand why it is LOGICAL to, when you have the MORNING SHIFT, to call your boss that morning and tell her that you can't come in... and that the boss has to find someone to cover your shift.. WHAT??
Let's get this present tense... Morgan got a phone call this morning a little after 9 am. (mind you the mall opens at 10). I knew immediately when she said, "what's up Erika," that Erika was calling in sick. Ugh. I wanted to scream, and I wasn't even the person having to deal with it. Morgan gives her some options of who to call... I'm sure dreading the result. She gets a phone call a few minutes later and peels through the room and comes back in, getting dressed.. She's going in. Icing on the cake? She is supposed to take care of her sister this morning, so she's taking Lexie with her.
Apparently Erika had been texting her since 8 (which is when she is supposed to come in) to tell her that she is sick, that she can't come in... if she has to come in she will, but that MORGAN has to find someone to cover the shift... (WTQ?) Negative, friend... this does NOT fly. She has done this to Morgan before.. I find it incredibly irritating. She better be on her freaking DEATH BED because this is dumb. What I find interesting is that I saw Erika yesterday and she seemed fine... and it's odd that she didn't have an INKLING last night that she wasn't feeling well.. This is a good way to lose your job. Would this fly anywhere else? I can't imagine that it would.
For some reason, in the back of my mind, I always have my job at the Family Health Center to compare my current job to. I guess it's the base of my working life, and it's not a bad comparison. It's sometimes along the lines of, "Patty would never stand for this nonsense." Or, "I would never try this when I worked at FHC." The difference there is that everyone had their own work to do, and if I missed work then it had to be passed on top of other peoples work, and there was always more to do when I got back. Better just to go in sick. Whereas, here- we all pretty much have the same duties, it just differs between managers and associates. (she who holds a key and those who dream of such an honor. ) Shouldn't this be easier then? Just to call someone and get them to cover for you? Apparently not. I will never understand. But I would never pull this kind of crap on Patty.

The Dead Sea Spa

Ok.. I am not a patient person... most people find this out day one. Or five.. whatever. For a while I find irritation in circumstances.. then humor mixed with irritation and so on. There is a kiosk across from my store selling lotion and such nonsense "from the Dead Sea." These people who sell this nonsense are ridiculous and annoying. I have heard the most ridiculous ways to capture peoples attention. "Have you ever heard of the Dead Sea?" (really? this is supposed to reel me in?) "Can I ask you a question? Do you keep your nails natural?" (This usually confuses the passerby to stop and turn... which is always fatal.. cause they get excited and leap!) "Please forgive my accent..." (seriously? no.. I have heard this line quite a few times.. it's not because of the accent that they dont stop.) PLEASE NOTE! I realize that these people work off commission, but when people RUN AWAY from you- where is the line?? Today was the worst. This guy was obviously getting frustrated with the public as a whole because he was using measures that had never been breached. He would yell across the hallway.. he would intercept them as they passed and thrust lotion samples in their general direction. He would walk along with them as they passed chanting FREE FREE FREE, thrusting his arm forward, in such a way that should only be followed my a HEIL! He would stand in FRONT OF THEM so they couldn't pass. This poor family got stopped and I could see that they were trying really hard to escape this crazy man's clutches but it was all useless! I wish I could save them. I often do a silent cheer when these people get shot down and groan when someone stops. I was watching at some point and this guy was SO SO persistent that a young teenage girl and her friend separated, one taking refuge in the store and the other bolting in the hallway. Later these 2 came in again, only to tell me that the guy had actually grabbed one of them to pull them in.. HELLO!! I told them to talk to mall office.. to mall security. Because that goes ABOVE AND BEYOND what is appropriate. And you know what? Getting chased into my store is really not how i want customers. there's more.. but i left my notes at the store.. yes.. i take notes on the crazy customers and things that happen.

UPDATE!

Highlights of my day:
*A woman that came in to do a return... of underwear.. (or innerwear as the company likes to call it :P  )
A: I'm sorry.. but it's company policy that we don't return underwear.
C: What? Well that's stupid. What am I gonna do with it?
A: (upon looking in said bag, she sees that all have been marked down to 1.99 or less.... this is certainly going to break the bank)
A: I'm sorry, that's just the policy.
C: Someone should have told me, i would have gone into the dressing room and tried them on.
A: (stunned silence, thinking 'what crazy person would let you TRY ON UNDERWEAR?)
C: You can just throw those away.. what am I gonna do with them?
A: (stunned silence) I'm very sorry.
C: (headed toward the door, with her unwanted items) I hate this store
A: (refrain from breaking into uncontrollable laughter)

*A group of kids come in.. 2 guys, 3 girls.. Girls are oogling at whatever nonsense as the boys find something to entertain themselves. They make a b-line to the ink-tags that we are using to put on the clothes.. putting them together and trying to pull them apart... and of course they do this while no one is in the presence of said ink-tags. I walk over, kind of close into their personal space and put my hands out to have them return them. "Can I have those? Thanks guys.." They guffaw, return them, apologize, and bolt from the door. I smirk to myself.

*A woman not wanting to return a pair of pants where she got them (on the banquet table just outside the entry) because she doesn't want to set off the alarm.

*A pack of 3 girls, cant be more than 11. One girl leads them through the store directing to what SHE should try on and what might look good on her. I laugh to myself as I watch them go through the store and as she tells one how she should do her hair that would look SO great. And as she makes the trek from the back to the front of the store, she does fist punches out from her to the beat of the music as she bops along, still leading. I control my laughter and pray that they will just go away... and I wonder to myself.. "is this how it begins? Those girls in high school that insist on being the very center of the universe and dictating what is good or bad? Wow... they are gonna HATE you."

how's that for a post, kaje?
