MARK THIS DAY!

I have officially lost it.

I have too many books. I may have mentioned the whole 85 new books from that library conference.. I've now read maybe 5 of them.. I guess that's a good start. Anyway... I've been looking into going back to school. Some of the schools I've been looking at in particular ARE:

University of British Columbia
University of Glasgow
University of Roehampton
for starters.

Note- all of these are OUT of the US. Why, you might be asking...
WELL WHY NOT!?! (shoot)

I'm thinking I'll be applying for schools for Fall 2014. Which is next year. Which brings me to the whole losing my mind bit... I've have it in my head all day long. I'm moving. I'm outta here.. (NEXT year.. hand to head in exasperation) I have lots of books which makes moving such a pain. I just spent the last hour going through some of my books.

I have a box of YA and middle grade books for the Tolmans...
A couple stacks of YA books for the Clower girls who I used to babysit for.
A stack for Christine.
And now a haphazard stack for Colleen..

Is this necessary NOW? At midnight? Absolutely not.

Oy with the poodles already!

Plus... a minor "where your feet are" SF edition.

I look at life as..

really-good-material for a story.

-Nonsense my co-workers say.. i put on sticky note and filed away for random character later.

-Heck! My coworkers in general ARE LITERARY GOLD! I couldn't dream this stuff up.

-Particular situations with any of the FIFTY THREE roommates I have had in the last decade... Characters. Every last one. I've kept track.

-Bus people -That random woman asking me if I knew what bus would take her to a particular strip club in Bothell..   The stellar man with his never-nude shorts over basketball shorts. Oh yea that was quality stuff there.

Just wait. Your antics will be in a book some day.

I broke... Or they broke me.

The only thing that is good about today is that it's over.

I can't do a straight 28 days of awesome I guess. . I declare today the sucky one and I am moving on.

Did I tell you?

My friend Jenny came here for the ALA conference and gave me a call to invite me along. What I didn't realize was that the 35 entrance fee into the exhibit would result in me returning home with 85 new books. All free. Mostly ARCs. (advanced readers copies..) which is what the publishers send out to libraries and booksellers to get them to get them in their store and talk it up. So stacks and stacks of free books.

85 books later...

I got on the bus with my OR backpack and two totes full of books. Full. Of. Books. So not only am I a crazy book lady. But since one of the bags had an angry cat on it... I was also a crazy bag and cat lady..

My pride was nearly shot.

. I have pretty much all of the books under my bed but with the spines facing out so I can see them. All mostly organized into categories.

But truthfully.. Honestly... Having that many new books sends me into a bit of panic. My heart is starting to race at the thought and I hyperventilate a little.

I just cant handle it. Thank goodness I have people in mind to share them with.

But still.. I panic.

So on this 6th day of February.. I dedicate my evening to reading.

Epic days

I decided last month that since there were 28 days in February and I was turning 28, that I would do something stellar on each day. It might turn out being small but it'll be enough for my 28 days. So take note because it's kind of a big deal. I'm kind of a big deal. (smirk smirk smirk)

Day one!!
Janice and krista and I went to baskin Robbins which I haven't been to in years. My grandma used to send us gift cards to there and I remember taking such joy in my choice in ice cream come.then I started following my brothers notion to get a quart size.
Anyway. That's beside the point.
Then!! Tessa, Janice and I went and saw the new zombie movie -warm bodies-. A zombie love story. What could go wrong with that? Pah!!

Day 2-
I don't know if you know, but I really don't like sleeping in, I feel like my day is wasted if I do that. An when I work in a warehouse in Seattle, sunshine is scarce and I have got to take those moments when I can. But it was Saturday and since I went to bed at 2am I decided that sleeping till I could sleep no longer would be best bet for my Saturday. I turned off my alarms and all possible sound. My body woke me at 9. I wandered. I cleaned. I cranked up my tunes and danced and sang around my room.

FYI- my bedroom floor is the best for sliding and spinning.

Then! Krista came home and we went to west Seattle and went to a baker nouveau and alki beach. I wanted to see Seattle from the other side.
Spent way too much time at Deseret book and had a grand adventure jamming to tunes.

Day 3-
Sundays are stellar. Always. And instead of making cookies for my coworkers, I made them for my roommates. Chocolate macadamia nut cookies. I think it may have been the best recipe I have ever tried. It made
My coworkers totally flip out and my roommates up in arms that they didn't get more. So! I made cookies for just my roommates and we huddled in the dining room and hung out. It was awesome. Good times. Great oldies.

Day 4-
manic Monday's. For fhe we did this photo scavenger hunt and I got teamed up with Tessa, Ronnie, Lynette and Jessica. We were the last group to return but we had a really good time. Which also involved breaking into song/ specifically Hercules. It helped that there were roman pillars in the middle of this creepy garden. Lots of song and dance.

Which was followed up by a dreadful game of basketball and tim-tam slams both with Tessa. I went to sleep with a sugar coma.

Day 5-
I woke up in a panic, completely unsure what day it was. Which is Tuesday. I learned.
I met up with Ileah after work, grabbed some food and went to see a movie called Mama. Creepy. I might have slight nightmares of a creepy girl crawling around.
But I did get a hug from Ileah tonight. This might not seem like a big deal until I tell you that my cousin is the opposite of me and doesn't like hugs at all. So big deal.

Other big deal. Charlie got new pants. Let's see how long it'll take to wash them this time around.

I came home tonight to krista with an epic plan. What is actually involved for the evening doesn't matter. What actually matters is that she's renting a car because she is inviting too many people to this thing on Friday and is putting it in my name. So for less than 24 hours, I will have wheels, c/o krista. Silly goon.

I'm not re reading this before I go to bed. So I'm out . Errors probably exist

Purging inbox

I was purging my inbox today. It was important and necessary due to the 2000 new emails it claimed I had that was driving me crazy. I came across a group of emails that I just read through.
wowsa- some brutal honesty there.

It was between me and my friend Matt Stacey. He became such a dear friend to me. We got each other through some dark and crazy times and I'm grateful to have known him.

No he's not dead or anything. At least not that I'm aware, but I was just missing him a little. He got married last year? The year before? Goodness I just don't know. His wife is pregnant and I'm so so happy for then both. I haven' met her but I'm sure she's fantastic. Sometimes I just miss my friend. I feel like there are stories to be told that he would be amused by.I guess I could still pass it along, but the dynamic has changed.

Although my prediction that once he got hitched I'd never hear from him again was pretty accurate.

Best friends- bah.

Thank goodness I have other married friends that didn't do that to me- that'd be such a devastating mess for me
